Historic preservation is a process that endeavors to preserve, conserve and protect buildings of cultural and historic significance. With respect to preservation, our responsibilities divide into two types. The first is to provide accurate building conservation by restoring the precise original conditions of the structure, as closely as possible. The second type is to preserve the integrity of the exterior of the original structure with contemporary construction techniques and to provide contemporary planning on the interior for modern purposes.
