Academic Projects

In the process of designing Academic buildings, the essential requirements are to facilitate learning and to establish a physical environment that will foster memory and affection as part of an ongoing tradition. When working on an existing campus it is important to maintain an architectural sensibility which reflects the school’s educational goals and building traditions. It is useful to be reminded of the first principle of design of the Roman architect Vitruvius whose essential ideal was that all buildings have firmness, commodity and delight–  or substance, utility and beauty.
